Solar Power Demand In Europe Forecast To Improve

NPD Solarbuzz has been providing forecasts about the solar photovoltaic panel industry since as far back as 2001 and is most highly thought of within this important industry. They have recently published a report on their predictions for the European solar panel industry that makes interesting reading.

The European solar photovoltaic market has been going through a downward trend over the past 18 months but this is now forecast to change as it is now believed it has reached its lowest level. The last quarter of this year is expected to witness a welcome recovery and the prospects for 2014 look favourable.

European prospects for the solar panel industry in 2014 look promising

For all those involved in the solar panel industry this has got to be seen as excellent news following what has been a turbulent period that has included major disputes between China and certain other countries including the USA and countries within the European Union.

In particular, it is being forecast that the UK, France, Italy and Germany will be at the forefront of this improvement in 2014 with those countries expected to be responsible for in excess of three quarters of the new solar capacity in Europe. This equates to around 8 GW.

NPD Solarbuzz are predicting that the first 6 months of next year will see PV demand stabilize but the remainder of 2014 will see moderate growth. This is in contrast to the 11% drop in PV demand seen in the third quarter of this year when compared with the second quarter.

Interestingly, it is being forecast that the UK will be at the forefront of this improvement during the first 3 months of 2014 with this being a first. One of the reasons for this is that solar developers will wish to complete very large projects before we see a reduction in the Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) that is due in the second quarter of 2014.
